Near the end of last year I picked up a new hobby of visiting places where movies were filmed in the 70's, 80's and 90's to see what they look like in present day. Labyrinth is one of my favourite films, a film that I have seen countless times so it made nothing but perfect sense for me to do some research to find out places where it was filmed. After a bit of searching around the Internet I discovered that the location of the park which was used in the scene at the very start of Labyrinth was located only a few towns away from me in West Wycombe Park. On Sunday the 21st of April 2013 I decided to visit this magical place..........
Here I am, it was so surreal being here.
Trying to recreate a scene. The bridge now has stone baubles on it but you can tell it is the same bridge if you look at the pattern on the side of it, they both match.
A scene from Labyrinth of Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) running across
the bridge in the park.
And here I am setting foot on that same bridge 27 years later.
This was such a wonderful place to visit and it just felt so surreal being here. Something that I have seen hundreds of times on VHS, DVD, Blu Ray and once on the big screen at the cinema at a special screening a few years back. I have now finally seen it with my own 2 eyes and this beautiful scenery will be something I remember forever. I recommend that every fan of Labyrinth visit this place at least once in their lifetime.
